Kaffrine : Le dépistage de l'hépatite B révèle des chiffres inquiétants dans la commune
An estimated hepatitis B prevalence of 10% was highlighted during the community health day organized in Kaffrine. Of the 105 people screened, approximately one in ten tested positive, according to Professor Massamba Diouf, executive secretary of ANAQ-Sup and head of Pastef in Kaffrine.
“ The results I have indicate a prevalence of approximately 10%. People who tested positive will be taken care of and monitored by the competent services of EPS 2 in Kaffrine ,” the public health professor stated.
In light of these results, Massamba Diouf emphasizes the need to strengthen prevention and monitoring. For those who test negative, he recommends increased awareness and counseling, while also considering facilitating access to hepatitis B vaccination, in accordance with current standards.
“ It is important to sustain these actions and to integrate them into a dynamic of monitoring and long-term care for people who have tested positive ,” he argued.
In addition to hepatitis B screening, the day was marked by several community health initiatives. A total of 145 children were circumcised, a figure presented as a record since the launch of this activity in the municipality of Kaffrine.
Malaria prevention was also at the heart of the initiative, with the free distribution of 635 insecticide-treated mosquito nets to the population.
For Massamba Diouf, this community health day led by the Pastef Kaffrine coordination made it possible to combine screening, prevention and care, with the ambition of making these actions regular appointments for the benefit of local populations.
