KOLDA: Le SAMES en grève ce lundi
The SAMES branch in Kolda has decided to hold a 24-hour strike on Monday, September 7th, which may be renewed. The union has announced, however, that it will maintain emergency services and minimum service levels to ensure the continuity of essential care. This action echoes the demands made by SAMES at the national level.
The National Executive Committee of the Autonomous Union of Doctors, Pharmacists and Dental Surgeons of Senegal (SAMES) is calling for, among other things, a special status for doctors, pharmacists and dental surgeons, the recruitment of qualified personnel, more transparent human resources management and the regularization of contract agents.
The revaluation of retirement pensions is also among the demands put forward by the organization.
Despite the announcement of the strike, Dr. Saradouwa Diallo assures that the local SAMES branch remains available for negotiations.
The union, however, is demanding concrete answers from the administration and health authorities in order to break the deadlock and restore confidence.
The movement emphasizes that the September 7th movement could constitute a new point of tension in the health sector in Kolda.
