Le géant Alan fusionne avec la pépite sénégalaise Tanel et affiche ses ambitions
The health ecosystem in Senegal is reaching a new milestone. After announcing its establishment in Senegal and Ivory Coast, the Alan group has just unveiled, from Dakar, the outlines of its new ambition in digital health in West Africa.
The group intends to develop in our sub-region "a new generation of health services, drawing on its technological expertise and the local roots built by Tanel since 2022".
As a reminder, the startup Tanel already has a very solid foothold in the local market. In just four years, it has developed "a network of over 400 client companies in Senegal and Ivory Coast" and "supported more than 70,000 people." With record growth projected to increase sevenfold by 2025, "its experience in local markets and the infrastructure it has developed now form the foundation for the deployment of Alan Africa."
Artificial intelligence and Kylian Mbappé as reinforcements
The ambition of this new entity is now to develop this local base by bringing in Alan's global technologies and know-how. "Prevention, teleconsultation and telemedicine are among the first areas announced by the group, with new tools designed to facilitate access to care and improve the support provided to employees of the companies involved," the document states.
The Senegalese market will thus benefit from access to new innovations, "particularly in artificial intelligence and health technologies." This ambitious vision is also driven by the group's collaboration with global football star Kylian Mbappé, an ambassador and investor in the group, who is working alongside Alan to promote new health habits. The stated objective is to "progressively offer a more accessible, preventative, and integrated digital health experience, taking into account the realities of African markets."
Dakar, a launching pad for prevention
It was from the Senegalese capital that the group's leaders chose to mark the occasion. At an event organized on September 3rd in Dakar to officially announce this new stage, Jean-Charles Samuelian-Werve, co-founder and CEO of Alan, was clear about his intentions: " We want to build the future of digital health in Senegal, Ivory Coast and more broadly, in Africa. We want to make prevention the norm ."
Founded in 2016 and boasting over one million members worldwide, Alan aims to "combine internationally developed technology and expertise with a deep understanding of local players, uses and needs".
A strategic combination that should allow Senegalese companies and insured persons "to accelerate innovation in health and to bring about new standards of care in the sub-region".
