Médecine traditionnelle : un tradipraticien alerte sur la prolifération des faux guérisseurs
On the occasion of World Traditional Medicine Day, celebrated annually on August 31, traditional medicine specialist Mamadou Bâ held a press conference this Thursday in Pout, focusing on the state of traditional medicine in Senegal. During the meeting, he particularly emphasized the need for better regulation of the sector, which is currently facing a proliferation of individuals posing as healers.
According to Mamadou Bâ, many individuals exploit patients' vulnerability to extort money from them, without possessing the necessary skills to practice traditional medicine. He therefore urges the public to be extremely vigilant against these "fake healers."
For the traditional healer, correctly identifying the illness is a fundamental step before prescribing any remedy. He particularly criticizes the practices of certain so-called healers who claim to be able to treat various pathologies without, in his opinion, being able to truly determine their origin.
Mamadou Bâ also mentions certain beliefs linked to the "rab", the "djinn" and the "seytané", believing that these dimensions are sometimes wrongly invoked to deceive patients and their relatives.
He also objects to the use of the same drug to treat several completely different illnesses, a practice he considers misleading and dangerous for the population.
Beyond this warning, Mamadou Bâ also called on the authorities to establish a proper legal framework for traditional medicine. He believes that better regulation would make it possible to distinguish genuine traditional healers from imposters and to better protect the populations who rely on traditional medicine.

Le Ministère de la Santé ne fait rien et laisse la population la plus démunie se faire arnaquer.
Les plus autorités ne font rien.
C est dommage mais les autorités doivent connaître leur responsabilité et régler ce problème de médecine traditionnelle.
