OCTOBRE ROSE À LA POLICE : 3 000 FEMMES CIBLÉES POUR LE DÉPISTAGE , UNE NOUVELLE MATERNITÉ INAUGURÉE
Behind the uniforms, there are also women facing cancer, motherhood, and the demands of a challenging profession. This Tuesday, October 6, 2026, the National Police placed their health at the heart of its agenda with a free screening day targeting 3,000 female personnel and the inauguration of a new maternity ward at Camp Abdou Diassé.
The National Police dedicated Tuesday to prevention and health. To mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a free breast and cervical cancer screening and awareness campaign was organized for 3,000 female personnel at Camp Abdou Diassé. The Chinese medical mission participated in the initiative, alongside the police medical teams.
Free consultations were also offered in pediatrics, ophthalmology, dermatology, ENT, general medicine and traditional Chinese medicine.
For the Director General of the National Police, this initiative goes beyond the simple framework of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. "It is not just a simple ritual on the calendar of the National Police Directorate," declared Police Inspector General Mame Seydou Ndour. He sees it as "a constant commitment" and a "national pledge to protect our mothers, our sisters, our wives, and our daughters."
In an institution subject to significant operational constraints, the Director General emphasized the need to not relegate health to a secondary concern. "The health of staff must remain a priority, even a top priority," he stressed, reminding everyone that behind the uniforms and responsibilities are "women and men whose health, dignity, and well-being constitute an asset that we must preserve."
The day was also marked by the inauguration of the new maternity ward at the Camp Abdou Diassé medical service. Located within the barracks, it is intended for female police officers and their families, with the aim of providing them with an environment adapted to the different stages of motherhood.
“This maternity ward is yours,” declared Mame Seydou Ndour. He expressed his hope to the staff that it would be “a place of trust, serenity, and security,” so that they could fully experience motherhood while proudly continuing their mission in service to the nation.
The Director General also addressed a message to the medical and paramedical staff responsible for running the facility. "Your competence, your availability, your attentiveness, and your humanity will be as important as the equipment available at this maternity ward," he emphasized, particularly to the midwives.
Mame Seydou Ndour called on the participants to become awareness ambassadors and to "carry high the colours of hope", by convincing their loved ones to get tested.
Behind this Pink October mobilization, the message is clear: for an institution that demands availability and commitment from its agents, protecting those who protect also means protecting their health.
