Polémique sur le médecin des Lions : L’Ordre des médecins recadre la FSF et défend la déontologie
The National Order of Physicians of Senegal (ONMS) breaks its silence to provide clarification following the controversy arising from the statement by Abdoulaye Fall, president of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) on the initial training of the national team doctor.
In a press release published this Thursday, the ONMS (National Physician's Office) reminds us that a physician can obtain several specialist diplomas during their career. Initial training in a given discipline does not invalidate a subsequent qualification duly acquired and registered in another recognized discipline, in this case, sports medicine.
For the ONMS, presenting a practitioner solely by their original specialty, without taking into account their background and additional qualifications, can give an incomplete picture of their profile and damage their professional reputation.
The ONMS also expressed its concern about public statements that could "damage the honor and professional reputation of a doctor, without prior verification with the competent professional bodies".
Recalling the missions entrusted to it by law 66-069 of July 4, 1966, the ONMS reminds that it is the only body authorized to certify the registration and qualifications of a doctor.
In short, the National Medical Council of Senegal says it is available to any institution to verify the regularity of a doctor's registration and qualifications before any public communication concerning him.
