22 bêtes volées à Louga : la traque mène à un grand-père et ses petits-fils
D. Sow, a 72-year-old man from Thieppe, appeared before the court in Louga with his two grandsons, M. Sow (33 years old) and E. Sow (30 years old), for the alleged theft of 17 sheep and 5 goats belonging to a resident of the village of Sine Leye. L'Observateur, which attended the trial, reports that the animals were recovered after a search organized by the villagers, who had followed hoofprints.
In court, the main prosecution witness, another D. Sow, forcefully reaffirmed that he had discovered the 70-year-old man, armed with a firearm, and his grandsons, armed with machetes, near the stolen herd. The defense contested this version: Mr. Seck pointed out "many inconsistencies in the witness's testimony."
The 70-year-old, quoted by the newspaper of the Groupe Futurs Médias, denied any involvement. He explained that he had gone looking for his lost horse with his two grandsons and that it was during this search that they ended up at the scene. "We were in the wrong place at the wrong time," he argued. Visibly moved after the verdict, he also exclaimed, "I'm in the twilight of my life. I have a herd that I can't even take care of. How can anyone understand that I would steal livestock?"
At the end of the trial, the same source added, the court acquitted the 70-year-old man due to reasonable doubt. His two grandsons were sentenced to one month's imprisonment, suspended. The civil party, which had sought one million CFA francs in damages, had its claim dismissed.

S'il est réellement coupable, le jugement de Dieu sera là.
