416 migrants débarquent aux îles Canaries, dont 211 partis du Sénégal
A total of 416 migrants were rescued on Friday, October 23, off the coast of El Hierro, in the Spanish Canary Islands archipelago. Among them were 211 migrants who had departed from Senegal in two boats.
According to available information, the first boat was carrying 41 people, while the second had 170 migrants. All were rescued and arrived safely in El Hierro. No loss of life has been reported.
On the same day, a third pirogue from Gambia also landed on the island with 205 people on board, including 12 women and nine minors, among them two girls. There too, all the passengers were reported to be in good health.
These new arrivals illustrate the continued departure of migrants from the Senegalese and Gambian coasts to the Canary Islands, at the risk of their lives.
