The case has made headlines in the legal and health sectors in the Dakar suburbs. This Thursday, the Keur Massar investigation unit brought six individuals before Public Prosecutor Saliou Dicko. They face serious charges related to criminal conspiracy, intentional HIV transmission, unnatural acts, and endangering the lives of others.
The case involves the following individuals: Ousseynou Diop, 41, married with two children, a worker residing in Pikine Guinaw and an artist in the film industry; Mamadou Yoro Ba, alias "Modou Ba Gawlo", 43, a widower with two children and a carpenter residing in Tivaouane Peulh; Dame Guèye, 24, single with no children and a worker; Ousmane Ndiaye, 38, divorced, a father of three children and a worker; as well as Abdou Seck and Abdourahmane Diop.
The investigation began on November 2, 2026. The Keur Massar Criminal Investigation Brigade acted on a complaint received regarding alleged acts of unnatural behavior by Abdou Seck, who was supposedly caught in the act with a man. The tailor was quickly arrested at his workshop in Guédiawaye.
During his police interview, Abdou Seck confessed. He told investigators he had been involved in the gay community for about five years. He identified Abdourahmane Diop as his partner, confirming that they had had unprotected sex the previous Sunday.
Following these statements, an intervention team immediately went to Grand-Yoff where they arrested Abdourahmane Diop in his tailoring workshop. Taken to the BR (Brigade de Recherches - Research Brigade), he confirmed that he frequented homosexual circles and admitted to having unprotected sex with Abdou Seck.
Faced with the scale of the revelations, the two men provided a list of sexual partners. According to their statements recorded by investigators, some members of this network of relationships were infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
The use of this information allowed the Keur Massar gendarmerie to expand the scope of the arrests. Ousseynou Diop, an artist in the film industry known for his role in the series "Jeu de dames," was also apprehended, as reported by Abdourahmane Diop.
Key confessions and health ramifications
During his hearing, Ousseynou Diop stated that he had been involved in the gay community for over fifteen years. He also claimed to have been HIV-positive for several years. Not stopping there, he implicated Dame Guèye and Mamadou Yoro Ba as his regular partners, with whom he allegedly had unprotected sex on several occasions.
Further investigations led to the location and arrest of Dame Guèye in Yeumbeul. He admitted to his homosexual tendencies and named Ousmane Ndiaye among his regular partners. Finally, Mamadou Yoro Ba was arrested in Tivaouane Peulh.
Before investigators, Mamadou Yoro Ba confirmed having relationships with men and made an unequivocal confession: "I had unprotected sex with an HIV-positive man." He specified, however, that he only had unprotected sex with Ousseynou Diop, whom he identified as the HIV-positive member of the group, according to Seneweb sources.
Beyond the offenses directly targeted by the proceedings, the investigations uncovered a collateral connection involving Mamadou Yoro Ba. Standard checks established that he is the brother of a deceased dancer whose murder remains unsolved to this day.
Investigators emphasize that this familial connection, considered in light of the victim's past acquaintances and those around her, constitutes a promising lead. However, extreme caution is necessary: no physical evidence currently establishes a direct link between the alleged acts of unnatural acts and this old murder case. Further investigations are underway to determine if any chance connection exists.
Faced with the seriousness of the facts, the clear attack on good morals and the major health risk represented by the potential spread of HIV within the community, the BR of Keur Massar maintains the pressure to break the chain of contamination.
The six defendants were presented to the public prosecutor Saliou Dicko, who is expected to request the opening of a judicial investigation.
