8 million stolen and machete attack: Two robbers from the Wave point in Dahra arrested in Touba

The investigation into the violent robbery in Dahra has made a major breakthrough. Two suspected members of the armed group that targeted the Wave money transfer service were arrested in Touba by officers from the Ndamatou police station.

According to sources close to the investigation, the assailants followed a well-rehearsed criminal route after their attack on Monday, October 19, 2026, in Dahra. Traveling in a white SUV stolen in Tivaouane, the armed gang first went to Darou Mousty to target another Wave money transfer point belonging to Pape Cheikh Diop. Despite firing warning shots into the air to intimidate the manager, the robbers failed to seize the cash register. Faced with this failure, the criminals headed towards the holy city of Touba to try to blend in and hide.

This was without taking into account the swift response of the defense and security forces. Located by the Ndamatou police, two members of the group were apprehended. Subsequently, an impressive operation involving more than six gendarmerie and police pickup trucks transported the two suspected robbers to Dahra for a reconstruction of the events and verification of the attack site. The two suspects are currently in custody at the Dahra gendarmerie brigade, while the investigation continues actively to apprehend their accomplices who are still at large.

As a reminder, the extremely violent attack occurred on Monday around 8 p.m. on the road leading to Linguère, near the Bassirou Sidy Ndiaye municipal stadium in Dahra. A commando of eight hooded individuals stormed the Wave money transfer agency.

Upon their arrival, the assailants savagely attacked the customers on the steps, striking them with machetes and beating them severely. To instill terror and deter any reaction from the neighborhood, the robbers fired several shots into the air.

Determined to erase all traces of their presence, the criminals systematically destroyed the surveillance cameras and the windows of the premises. Under threat of their firearms, they forced the manager, Mamadou Mbaye, to hand over all the available funds, amounting to eight million CFA francs.

Having accomplished their crime, the eight robbers quickly vanished into thin air in their 4x4, heading towards the large Dahra fairground before beginning their escape towards Darou Mousty and Touba.
