Accident mortel à Kaolack : un conducteur de vélo-taxi percuté par un camion
A fatal traffic accident occurred on October 13, 2026, at 7:15 p.m., on Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba Avenue. A truck and a Jakarta-type moped were involved. The moped driver died at the scene, according to Seneweb sources.
The truck was driven by N. Diop, aged 30. The driver held a valid driver's license. The vehicle had two valid roadworthiness certificates and was covered by two insurance policies.
The victim is Mr. SARR, a 57-year-old bicycle taxi driver residing in Kasnack.
According to initial findings, the truck was traveling from Ngoundiane towards Ziguinchor. The moped driver reportedly lost control of his vehicle and veered into the path of the truck. He was then struck by the truck's front left wheel. Mr. Sarr succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.
Members of the National Fire Brigade took charge of the victim's body and transported it to the El Hadji Ibrahima Niass Regional Hospital in Kaolack. Police carried out the standard procedures.
The public prosecutor has been notified. An investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of the accident and establish any potential liability. The investigation, entrusted to the central police station in Kaolack, is ongoing.
