Accused of rape resulting in pregnancy in Kolda: a 65-year-old retiree admits that the minor used to nap in his room

The urban security unit of the Kolda central police station presented, this Thursday, September 3, 2026, to the Public Prosecutor at the High Court, a 65-year-old retired accountant, prosecuted for abduction of a minor and rape resulting in pregnancy. Residing in Bel-Air, the accused, YG, known as "Uncle G.", is a widower and father of eight (8) children.

The investigation follows a report dated August 30, 2026, concerning a complaint filed by AT, a bricklayer residing in Bel-Air, against the accused, for rape resulting in pregnancy of his daughter, FT, a student in her final year of secondary school. Her parents, however, state that she is 15 years old, as no birth certificate has been produced.

It was after noticing physiological and behavioral changes in his daughter that the father subjected her to questioning. The young woman eventually admitted to being pregnant and to the rape she claims to have suffered at the hands of the accused. The complainant (the victim's father) added that the accused is a repeat offender, specifying that he had already impregnated his younger sister, a minor, in 2021, a case that was not brought to court following the family's intervention.

Heard under oath in the constant presence of her father, FT stated that YG took advantage of her parents' absence to invite her into his room, before forcing her to have sexual relations despite her refusal.

Arrested for abduction of a minor and rape resulting in pregnancy, YG unconvincingly denied having had sexual relations with the complainant. He did, however, admit that she often took naps in his room and that he had once given her 6,000 FCFA for medical expenses related to her pregnancy. He had initially admitted this to the girl's parents before recanting during his interrogation.

During the confrontation organized between the two parties, each maintained all of its previous statements.

The requisition addressed to the chief physician in charge of the forensic center of the Kolda regional hospital reported, in FT's case, multiple old hymenal lesions and an ongoing intrauterine singleton pregnancy of 20 weeks of amenorrhea and 6 days. At the end of the investigation, the accused was brought before the prosecutor.
