Accusé de vol de noix de coco : il est lynché à mort par une foule
In its Tuesday edition, Les Échos reports on the fatal lynching of a man that occurred on the night of July 8-9 in the Kamb Extension neighborhood of Keur Mbaye Fall. According to the newspaper, the young man was caught in a coconut tree around 3:00 a.m. before being accused by some youths of trying to steal coconuts, although the circumstances of his presence in the tree remain unclear.
The victim was dragged into the street and subjected to a brutal beating before being abandoned in a pitiful state near the Toll Dias footbridge. Rescued by passersby, Dakha F. reportedly stated that he had been mistaken for an attacker. After providing the phone number of a friend who came to his aid, he was taken to a hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The same source indicates that police officers from the Mbao police station have opened an investigation, leading to the arrest of four suspects. These individuals were to be brought before the prosecutor at the Pikine High Court. The investigation is ongoing to identify other participants in this fatal beating.
