Affaire ASER : le Collectif Sunu 37 Milliards interpelle Diomaye Faye sur une caution de 40 milliards FCFA
While the controversy surrounding a potential contract between Akilé and Senelec dominates public debate, the Sunu 37 Billion Collective is calling for attention not to be diverted from the case of the Senegalese Rural Electrification Agency (ASER). It is appealing to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and the Minister of Energy regarding the status of the 40 billion FCFA performance bond mentioned in connection with the project.
The Sunu 37 Billion Collective has brought the ASER case back into the spotlight. In a press release, it denounces the risk of the 37 billion FCFA affair being overshadowed by the controversy surrounding an alleged contract between Akilé and Senelec.
For the Collective, this controversy should not obscure the persistent questions about the use of funds committed to the rural electrification market and the completion of infrastructure promised to the people.
The movement specifically mentions the case of Spanish businessman José Ángel González Tausz, known as Jolé, whom it presents as being at the heart of this affair. It asserts that Jolé has admitted to receiving the 37 billion CFA francs related to the project, while denouncing his failure to respond to the Senegalese justice system in the context of the investigation opened by the Gendarmerie's Research Section. The Collective believes that an international arrest warrant should be considered.
Beyond the legal question, the Sunu 37 Billion Collective is directly appealing to the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, as well as the Minister in charge of Energy, regarding the fate of the 40 billion FCFA performance bond mentioned in the context of the project.
He asks the authorities to clarify the status of this guarantee, the conditions for its mobilization and the measures envisaged to ensure the effective continuation of the rural electrification market.
According to the Collective, this guarantee could be used as leverage to revive the project, provided that its mobilization is legally and contractually possible. The objective, it insists, must remain the protection of the State's interests and the completion of the expected infrastructure.
For the Collective, the issue goes beyond political and legal controversies. It directly concerns rural populations who are still waiting to benefit from the promised electrification.
He therefore calls on the authorities to move from declarations to concrete decisions, by shedding full light on the funds committed, establishing responsibilities and guaranteeing the execution of commitments made.
"The ASER scandal must neither be buried nor diluted in other controversies," insists the Sunu 37 Billion Collective, which demands clear answers on the handling of the case.
The movement believes that the priority must now be on revealing the truth, preserving public funds and ensuring effective access to electricity for the affected localities.
