Attack in Thiaroye Azur: A gang in a cart terrorizes the area and smashes the skull of a young man

A scene of exceptionally violent aggression occurred on October 26, 2026, in Thiaroye Azur, near the chemical plants of Senegal (ICS). On that day, young people using the road and the beach were targeted in a violent attack carried out by a group of individuals in a cart.

According to the preliminary investigation conducted by the district police station of Diamaguène Sicap-Mbao, the victims, Mr. Diallo and C. Diop, accompanied by witnesses, were enjoying a day of relaxation at the beach of Sicap-Mbao on their Jakarta motorcycles.

Late in the day, around 7 p.m., while they were near the ICS building taking photos and snaps, a cart carrying several people suddenly sped up. One of the assailants jumped on C. Diop and snatched his cell phone. When the young men tried to get it back, the situation escalated into a violent attack. Another individual then punched C. Diop hard in the face.

A life-threatening prognosis

Coming to his friend's aid, Mohamed Diallo was himself struck violently on the head with a club, immediately losing consciousness. Rushed to the hospital, he received medical attention. The medical certificate indicates a depressed fracture of the parietal bone and a head injury, resulting in a 45-day period of temporary incapacity for work.

His condition required his emergency transfer to the Idrissa Pouye Hospital in Grand-Yoff, where he underwent delicate cranial surgery. His life was in danger at the time.

A precise description provided by survivors and witnesses, who formally identified the attackers at the Diamaguène cart drivers' garage in the "Gouye Gua" neighborhood, allowed the police station's investigation unit to take action. On October 28, 2026, the investigation led to the arrest of two individuals: F. Ndao, a 23-year-old mechanic, and L. Fall, an 18-year-old cart driver.

The two accused were then brought before the prosecutor of the Pikine-Guédiawaye court for criminal association, robbery in a group with violence, use of a blunt weapon (club) and intentional assault and battery resulting in a 45-day incapacity for work.

Placed under arrest warrant on the same day, they will be tried before the court for flagrant offenses.
