"Allou Kagne" (Thiès) : Un gros-porteur prend feu et provoque un énorme embouteillage
On Sunday, October 4, 2026, in the late afternoon, a large truck caught fire near the "Allou Kagne" forest on the Thiès-Pout road. The incident severely disrupted traffic, causing a very long queue of vehicles and a massive traffic jam.
Information gathered at the scene indicates "negligence" on the part of those responsible for the truck, which reportedly "remained stationary on the road for several hours without a warning triangle or any visible device to alert other road users." It was a few hours after being parked that the vehicle caught fire under circumstances that are still under investigation. The fire quickly disrupted traffic.
Alerted, the Pout gendarmerie intervened to secure the area and direct traffic. Firefighters also quickly arrived on the scene to extinguish the blaze.
The origin of the fire remains a mystery. No official cause has been released. Locally, some fear arson. An investigation has been launched.
An incident that brings back to the forefront the issue of securing vehicles that are improperly parked on major roads, with the absence of warning triangles or alert devices, representing a real public danger.
