A fight between two women, sparked by a dispute over a phone charger, escalated into a fire that destroyed an entire apartment. The woman involved, a 20-year-old nanny, was taken into custody on Friday, August 28, 2026.
The events date back to Thursday, August 27, 2026. Around 12 p.m., Commissioner Sarré, head of the Yeumbeul district police station, was alerted by telephone to a fire that had occurred in an apartment in the Darou Salam 1 district.
Police investigations at the scene revealed that the fire originated in a ground-floor apartment of a two-story family home. By the time investigators arrived, neighbors had already extinguished the blaze, but embers remained. Firefighters, also on the scene, finished extinguishing the last remaining hotspots.
The five-room apartment was occupied by Ms. NY, her husband, and their children. The damage is extensive: the bedroom is completely destroyed, as are two orthopedic mattresses, a stove, and clothing and various other belongings, all of which were charred beyond recognition. No injuries were reported.
The investigation was able to reconstruct the origin of the tragedy thanks to the statements of MMG, born in 1995 (31 years old), a housewife residing in Darou Salam 1. According to her testimony, an argument broke out between Mr. Cissé and his cousin, MD, over a phone charger. It was at the end of this altercation that Mr. Cissé allegedly deliberately set fire to a sponge before throwing it into a wardrobe containing clothes, causing the room and then the apartment to catch fire.
The confession of the accused
After a brief interview with investigators, Mr. Cissé admitted to the charges against him. She stated that she acted impulsively in a fit of anger following an argument with her cousin, according to Seneweb sources.
Prosecutor Saliou Dicko has been informed of this case. Ms. Cissé, aged 20 and residing in Darou Salam 1, was taken into custody this Friday, August 28, 2026, at the Yeumbeul district police station, for arson in a dwelling.
