On Thursday, October 22, 2026, at around 6:40 a.m., a police patrol from the Grand Yoff district police station, intervening near the Grand Yoff SAMU intersection, managed to disperse a hostile crowd and rescue two individuals from imminent public retribution.
Law enforcement acted promptly to ensure the safety of the suspects, who were pursued by public outcry after an attempted robbery committed by a group, with violence and the use of a means of transport, against a backdrop of criminal association.
When asked to state their identity during their arrest, the two accused indicated that their names were OK, a 21-year-old mason, and MBD, a 23-year-old spare parts seller, both residing in Grand Dakar.
At the scene, the victim, identified as G. Ndiaye, had scratches on her right hand and foot, and was clearly in a state of shock. Interviewed by investigators, the woman recounted that while she was walking to work and crossing a quiet street at that early hour, a Liberty brand motorcycle with two people on board suddenly appeared beside her.
The motorcycle passenger, OK, then got off and tried to violently snatch her handbag, while his accomplice, MBD, drove the motorcycle. Faced with the victim's fierce resistance, as she clung to her belongings, she was dragged along the ground for several meters.
Thwarted by this firm resistance and alerted by the victim's cries for help, the two assailants finally fled on their two-wheeled vehicle. However, pursued by local residents who had witnessed the scene, the fleeing men lost control of their motorcycle and fell, which facilitated their arrest before the arrival of the police.
When briefly questioned about the events, the suspects confessed without hesitation. They explained to investigators that after spending the night in a furnished apartment with their respective partners, they were returning home when they saw the victim alone, a situation that inspired them to rob her, according to Seneweb sources.
Following this intervention, the two suspects were taken into custody, while the investigation continues.
