Arrêté avec de la drogue par la police de Grand-Dakar : il tente de se suicider au commissariat et refuse les soins
A 41-year-old man was arrested on the evening of Thursday, August 27, 2026, by officers from the Grand-Dakar district police station's investigation unit for alleged possession of marijuana. While in custody, the suspect made disturbing statements before intentionally injuring his head, forcing the police to request medical evacuation, which he refused.
According to information gathered by Seneweb, the incident occurred around 10 p.m. at the Grand-Dakar market. Police officers from the investigation unit stated that they encountered an individual riding a bicycle whose behavior seemed suspicious. They stopped him and conducted a pat-down search.
This search led to the discovery of marijuana hidden in one of his trouser pockets. The suspect was taken to the police station for possession of six packets and four joints of marijuana.
The individual arrested has been identified as I. NDIAYE, born on August 23, 1985, making him 41 years old. He is described as a widower and father of one child. He presented himself to investigators as a sanitation worker for the Grand-Dakar municipality.
Disturbing remarks made during the hearing
During a brief questioning at the police station, I. NDIAYE suddenly made statements in Wolof mentioning the death of his parents and wife, indicating that only his young child and older sister remained, before adding that he was leaving everything behind in the family home. These statements, reported verbatim by the investigators, are as follows:
“mane sama yaye ak sama papa dagno dë. Sama diabar tamine dëna. Sama dome bou ndaw ak sama mak bou djiguëne rëk la nëkal. Mangui bayi khaye khare ci keurga. »
Immediately after uttering these words, I. NDIAYE abruptly banged his head against the outer part of the partition separating the men's holding cell from the women's. He then declared:
"damaye kharou."
This action caused him an open head wound.
Medical evacuation and refusal of care
In response to this injury, a requisition dated August 27, 2026, was sent to the director of the Gaspard Kamara Health Center. The accused was taken there by the police. However, upon arrival, I. Ndiaye categorically refused to receive the treatment offered to him.
The doctor on duty, LM DJIEPGANG, drew up a handwritten discharge on behalf of the accused, attesting that he had formally refused to receive any care.
