Artisanat : Le chef de l'État reçoit les 14 présidents des chambres de métiers et mise sur la souveraineté économique
President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye received the leaders of the fourteen chambers of trades in Senegal, members of the National Union of Chambers of Trades, at the presidential palace on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. The meeting focused on the challenges facing the craft sector and its strategic role in the country's economic transformation.
The training of artisans, the formalization of their activities, and access to financing were at the heart of the discussions. These three areas are essential for strengthening a sector that supports many families and contributes significantly to the national economy.
From carpentry to sewing, via mechanics and jewelry making, crafts also constitute a heritage of know-how passed down from generation to generation.
For the Head of State, this sector must occupy a leading place in the implementation of the Senegal 2050 Vision. The ambition is in particular to strengthen local production and processing in order to reduce external dependence and consolidate the economic sovereignty of Senegal.
President Faye thus reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the chambers of trades in this dynamic, with the objective of making crafts a true engine of growth and economic development.
