Attaque à main armée à Gassane : Un mari et son épouse enceinte grièvement blessés par des voleurs de bétail
Blood was shed in the Gassane Centre neighborhood of the eponymous commune between Wednesday and Thursday night. Ousmane Ka and his wife Coumba Ka, who was heavily pregnant, were seriously injured with machetes by cattle rustlers attempting to steal their herd. The incident occurred around midnight.
According to local sources, two hooded individuals armed with machetes were attempting to break down the gate of the family compound. Awakened by the noise, the head of the family went to investigate.
One of the assailants then struck the husband a violent blow with a machete, causing him to collapse to the ground in a pool of blood. Witnessing the scene, his wife rushed to his aid. Unfortunately, she was suddenly targeted and also received a violent blow to the head with a machete.
Alerted, the rescue workers evacuated the victims, in critical condition, to the local health post, before their emergency transfer to the Matlaboul Fawzeyni hospital in Touba, where they are currently receiving intensive care.
The gendarmerie has opened a judicial investigation in order to identify and arrest the two criminals who are on the run.
