Bakel : Un berger de 19 ans condamné pour avoir blessé sa mère à la machette
Shepherd Seydou Dieng, 19, was sentenced on Wednesday by the Tambacounda correctional court to 2 years imprisonment, including 1 month in prison, for injuring his mother with a machete while under the influence of alcohol.
According to the investigation, the defendant witnessed his parents arguing near the well. Intoxicated, he attacked his mother, Faty Seck, striking her with a machete he was carrying, causing serious chest injuries. Taken to the hospital, the victim received intensive care, and a medical certificate granted her 21 days of temporary incapacity.
Armed with this document, she filed a complaint with the gendarmerie. The accused was arrested, then brought before a judge and remanded in custody at the Tambacounda prison.
In court, Faty Seck, representing herself as a civil party, recounted the events at length. According to her, her son drinks regularly and becomes violent under the influence of alcohol. She and her husband, Djiby Dieng, who has two wives and 15 children, nevertheless asked the judge for forgiveness on behalf of their son.
The deputy prosecutor requested a two-year sentence, with one month to be served in prison. The court followed this recommendation, despite the defense's plea, presented by Mr. Amadou Lady.
