Bango : 1 842 recrues achèvent leur formation initiale et intègrent l’armée
After four months of intensive training, 1,842 recruits from the 2026 contingent, including 86 young women, officially completed their initial military training at the Bango center. The graduation ceremony was presided over by the commander of Military Zone No. 2, Colonel Alioune Samassa, in the presence of Lieutenant Colonel Mamadou Fall, commanding officer of the 12th Battalion.

For four months, the new recruits underwent rigorous military training. In particular, they acquired essential skills and personal qualities for their future careers in the armed forces.
"This ceremony marks the end of the initial training of the fighters of the 2026 contingent. For four months, they were subjected to the rigor of military training," explained Lieutenant Colonel Mamadou Fall.
The commanding officer clarified, however, that this step is only the beginning of the new recruits' military journey. Now full members of the military institution, they will join their respective units, where they will continue their training, particularly through weapons qualification courses and training related to their future roles.

The meaning of the flag and military values
The ceremony also provided an opportunity to raise awareness among the new recruits about the symbolism of the national flag. According to Lieutenant Colonel Mamadou Fall, it was important to explain the meaning of this emblem and the responsibilities that now fall to them with regard to it.
For their new professional lives, three fundamental values were particularly emphasized to them: discipline, loyalty, and professional conscience.
Discipline, presented as one of the army's main strengths, should allow each soldier to know his place within his unit and to contribute to the safety and effectiveness of collective action.
Loyalty is also a major requirement. Recruits are expected to remain true to their oath, the institution, their leaders, their comrades, and the nation that has placed its trust in them.

Finally, professional conscience must guide each of their actions. "Whatever action they have to take, they must take it with competence and responsibility," insisted Lieutenant-Colonel Mamadou Fall.
Serving the homeland
Among the new recruits, Private Maserigne Guèye explained his reasons for choosing a military career. He said he joined the army out of love for his country and a desire to contribute to preserving peace and security within the national territory.
For him, joining the army also represents an opportunity to help his family and build his future. He therefore encourages young people interested in a military career to give it a try.

“Here, they will be very well trained. They will also acquire an education that will allow them to be respected and to respect everyone. This can also open the doors to success for them,” he testified.
With this ceremony, the 1,842 recruits of the 2026 contingent are now embarking on a new stage of their journey. Their mission will be to put the training they have received into practice and to serve the nation in their various assignments.
