Bargny : Un projet d'émigration irrégulière démantelé, 14 candidats et 3 présumés passeurs interpellés
An operation carried out on the night of Saturday, October 10, 2026, by the Bargny police station thwarted an attempt to illegally transport migrants. The raid led to the arrest of fourteen individuals attempting to emigrate irregularly, the suspected mastermind of the operation, and two of his accomplices.
It all began on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at approximately 12:30 a.m., when the Bargny police station was notified by the Rufisque central police station of an imminent clandestine crossing. The plan involved transferring migrants in small canoes from Bargny Guedj beach to a larger vessel positioned at sea.
Dispatched immediately to the scene, officers from the Bargny police station's Criminal Investigation Brigade surprised the suspects and arrested fourteen (14) individuals attempting to emigrate illegally. At the scene, law enforcement also apprehended the alleged ringleader, Mr. CISS, known as A., aged 51.
Seizure of funds and revelations from the main organizer
During a body search, investigators discovered 1,079,000 CFA francs on Mr. CISS, representing money collected from the migrants. The suspected organizer was apprehended in a Peugeot 207 belonging to A. DIALLO. According to initial findings, this vehicle was used to transport the migrants from their accommodation to the shore.
After being briefly questioned about the facts, Mr. CISS stated that he was acting in collaboration with a certain T., residing in Bargny, for the logistics of this expedition.
The 14 candidates arrested, all Senegalese nationals and male, are aged between 19 and 53. Originally from and residing in the localities of Médina Yoro Foula and Vélingara, they stated that they each paid between 400,000 and 500,000 CFA francs to participate in this trip.
Telephone surveillance and seizure of 30 fuel cans
Further investigations and the analysis of Mr. CISS's mobile phone quickly led police to other accomplices. The operation resulted in the arrest of A. DIALLO, 37, a baggage taxi driver residing in Yarakh-Ferraille, and O. SOW, 23, a gas station attendant residing in Keur Massar.
The two men were intercepted at the Star Oil gas station in Bargny, located on the main road, in a Renault Master van. A search of the van revealed thirty (30) jerrycans of fuel. When questioned about the purpose of this stockpile, A. Diallo and O. Sow admitted that the fuel was intended to refuel the pirogue that was to make the crossing organized by Mr. Ciss.
Following these revelations:
The sum of 1,079,000 CFA francs, the two vehicles (Peugeot 207 and Renault Master) as well as the 30 jerrycans of fuel were seized and placed under seal for the purposes of the procedure.
The public prosecutor at the Rufisque High Court, Cheikh Diakhoumpa, has been informed of developments in the case. The investigation is continuing in order to determine all the ramifications of this network.
