Mr. A. Ndoye was brought before the Thiès court of summary jurisdiction on Wednesday. He is being prosecuted for the theft and illegal slaughter of a goat belonging to Ms. M. Diatta in Bayakh.
According to the evidence presented at the hearing, the events took place during heavy rain. The defendant, who had just left a bar and was intoxicated, entered Mr. Diatta's enclosure before seizing a goat.
After strangling the animal to death, he concealed it in a bag in order to leave the scene discreetly. But his plan backfired when he was intercepted while trying to disappear with his loot.
In court, A. Ndoye contested the charges against him. He admitted to being drunk but categorically denied touching the goat. He explained that he was on his way to a friend's house and had entered the enclosure only to take shelter from the rain. This version of events contrasts sharply with the evidence presented in court.
After the debates, the prosecution requested the application of the law.
In the end, A. Ndoye received a one-month prison sentence.
