Casablanca-Dakar : des chaussures bourrées de drogue saisies
An operation by the Central Office for the Suppression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (OCRTIS) has dismantled part of a suspected hashish trafficking network between Casablanca and Dakar. On October 31, as reported by Libération, a Senegalese woman traveling between the two cities alerted the police after detecting a strong, suspicious odor emanating from shoes in a package. A check revealed eight packets of hashish, made up of 32 balls, carefully concealed in the soles of the shoes, the newspaper notes.
According to the same source, the drugs were initially handed over to the Moroccan police. Subsequently, the Central Office for the Suppression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (OCRTIS) organized a controlled delivery, with the merchandise being replaced, in order to identify those involved in the trafficking operation.
Two people were arrested as part of this operation. Mbacké, 25 years old and claiming to be a livestock farmer residing in the HLM 5 neighborhood, was the first to be apprehended. A search of his home yielded a ball of hashish and two partially used strips of Alprazolam.
R. Kane, 28, who presented herself as a sales agent, was subsequently arrested at Soprim Extension. When questioned about the origin of the seized goods, she admitted her role as an intermediary and provided investigators with the identity of the final recipient of the merchandise. He is currently being actively sought.
