Cayar : trois bœufs volés retrouvés dans un troupeau, un berger mis en cause par deux mineurs
Mr. Bâ, a shepherd residing in Cayar, appeared before the Thiès court of summary jurisdiction to answer charges of stealing three oxen from Mr. Lèye. In court, the defendant denied the charges against him.
According to the civil party's account, the events took place on a Friday, while he was away praying. He had tied his three oxen behind some houses, before individuals came and untied them to take them away.
Alerted by a boy who witnessed the scene, Mr. Lèye set out to find his animals, accompanied by others. They eventually located the cattle in a herd being led by two minors. The owner explained that he had recovered his animals and is demanding 200,000 FCFA in damages.
However, the two minors, who had already been tried in juvenile court, identified Mr. Bâ as the one who had introduced the cattle into their herd. According to the investigation, the shepherd acted this way after realizing that the owner was looking for him.
Despite these statements, Mr. Bâ contested the accusations in court. The deputy public prosecutor requested that the law be applied.
The case has been adjourned for deliberation.
