Chambre criminelle de Mbour : Un maître coranique transforme son élève de 15 ans en objet sexuel
Rape, abduction of a minor, and pedophilia against a 15-year-old girl are the charges that could earn I. Ndiaye, a Koranic teacher, a 20-year sentence, if the prosecutor's indictment is followed by the judge of the criminal chamber of the Mbour High Court.
Indeed, the events date back to 2023.
FN had been entrusted by his parents to the Koranic teacher so that he could teach him the precepts of Islam and master the Koran.
The 38-year-old Quranic teacher, instead of stopping there, went further by teaching the 15-year-old girl about sexual matters. Eventually, the girl began showing signs of pregnancy. She claimed to have been sexually abused by the Quranic teacher and that he was the father of her child. Against all expectations, I. Ndiaye denied paternity. It was only after the birth of his child that the Quranic teacher finally admitted to being the father, having undergone a DNA test. Knowing the situation was hopeless, he eventually confessed.
"FN, I cherished her enormously. She was a brilliant, serious and determined student, who had never repeated a single grade. She had her whole life ahead of her and represented immense hope for me. But this man ruined her life and shattered my hopes. He had refused to acknowledge paternity of the child. We had to wait for the results of the DNA test for him to finally agree to admit that he was indeed the father of the child," testifies the victim's father.
In court, the victim gave damning testimony against her Quranic teacher. She claimed that he had sexually abused her on several occasions in his room, while she was entrusted to him for her religious education.
Facing the accused, the presiding judge did not hide his indignation: "How can you, as a Quranic teacher, allow yourself to abuse your 15-year-old student, who was entrusted to you so that you could show her the right path, the path to salvation?" he challenged him.
For the Prosecutor, the actions attributed to the accused constitute a serious betrayal of the trust placed in him. According to him, the Quranic teacher reduced his student to "a sexual object," thus perverting the educational and spiritual mission entrusted to him.
In his indictment, the representative of the public prosecutor's office also denounced the consequences of such acts on families' trust in educational institutions.
"Today, people are afraid of Koranic schools and even public schools because of these despicable acts. This must stop. This phenomenon concerns everyone: sociologists, religious leaders, the State…," he exclaimed.
Convinced that the charges of rape, pedophilia, and abduction of a minor against the Quranic teacher are substantiated, the prosecutor requested the full application of the law. He urged the criminal court to sentence the accused to 20 years' imprisonment.
I. Ndiaye's lawyer, Me Djiby Seydi, called on the court not to follow the severe indictment of the public prosecutor.
"I humbly ask you to extend an olive branch to him," the lawyer pleaded, urging the court to show leniency towards his client. Especially since the victim and the accused now have a child.
The verdict is scheduled for October 16th.

N'ayez pas de tabou avec vos enfants, dès qu'ils sont capables de comprendre, dites leur carrément que "si la personne te dit ou te fait telle ou telle chose, même si elle te menace vient me le dire".
Souvent dans notre culture on interdit à nos enfants d'exprimer ou de dénoncer. La conséquence c'est qu'ils subissent des choses mais ont honte ou peur de le dire.
De quels ibadous parles-tu ? Qui t'a dit que le maître coranique est un "ibadous"?
Les daaras tenus par des "maîtres coraniques" mourides, tidianes ou niassenes ne sont-ils pas 20 fois plus nombreux que ceux tenus par des "ibadous"? Do bayyi tonne tey mandou si li guay wakh? Meune toogne rek?
