« Chaussures » et « talisman autour des reins » : comment le charlatan aurait « envoûté » une femme mariée avant de fuir avec elle
Prosecuted for "charlatanism" and "abduction of a married woman", the alleged healer SA Sow was arrested in Kanel by the gendarmes of the Vélingara Brigade.
The facts
S. Baldé had sought out the practitioner to treat her mother. According to L'Observateur, the man then asked her for "one of his pairs of shoes" and gave her a "talisman to wear around her waist." Now "bewitched," the victim "obeyed the charlatan's every command," eventually abandoning "parents, husband, and children" to flee to Matam.
The investigation
Alerted by the husband, the police launched a search and located the woman in Bodji. The suspect, according to the newspaper of the Groupe Futurs Médias, managed to escape before being pursued in "bus stations and other public places." This father of three was finally arrested at the weekly market in Kanel and then transferred under escort to Vélingara.
The defense
Placed in police custody, Sow claimed, among other things, that he was unaware that S. Baldé was married. According to the same source, the suspect also offered a peculiar justification: "I am sexually impotent and I am forced to drink alcohol to have intercourse." A confrontation is scheduled for Tuesday between the suspect, the victim, and witnesses.
