Couverture sécuritaire et médicale du Gamou : La situation à la date du 27 août à Tivaouane
As part of the security and medical coverage of the Gamou of Tivaouane 2026, the National Fire Brigade mobilized, from August 22 to 27, a large contingent of personnel and 81 fire and rescue resources.
As of Thursday, August 27, at 8:00 AM, the unit had responded to 254 incidents, involving 429 victims, including 425 people receiving assistance and 4 fatalities, according to Commander Djibril Sall, Communications Officer for the National Fire Brigade detachment. Traffic accidents accounted for 66 incidents, involving 224 victims, including 221 people receiving assistance and 3 fatalities.
On the medical front, 468 free consultations were provided. Particular attention was paid to water supply, with eight 30 m³ tanker trucks distributing 975 m³ of water to the population. During this winter period, Commander Djibril Sall noted, the Brigade also participated in flood control efforts, notably clearing 10 previously flooded sites.
The communications officer for the detachment of the National Fire Brigade reiterated that, following the Gamou celebration, the Brigade is maintaining its deployment.
