CRD of the Magal of Mbacké Kadior: the governor of Louga responds to the grievances of the organizing committee

The Regional Development Committee (CRD) meeting to prepare for the annual Magal of Mbacké Kadior was held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the Louga Governorate, under the chairmanship of Governor Ndèye Nguénar Mbodj. The religious event is scheduled for November 8. The meeting brought together the organizing committee and state technical services, who had been invited by circular dated October 6.

According to the governor, each department head outlined their contribution in the areas of security, health, water supply, sanitation, cleanliness, and electricity (in partnership with Senelec). The next step is to monitor these contributions. She then addressed the three grievances raised by the organizing committee.

Regarding the third well, intended to improve the water supply, she announced: "We will contact the relevant authorities, particularly OFOR, for very rigorous management."

Regarding the gendarmerie brigade, a long-standing expectation of the local population, she stated: "We want to reassure you: the higher command is currently studying the matter. We hope that you will receive a response very soon that takes into account the concerns of the people."

Regarding the raising of the health center level, she indicated that "the authorities are discussing and examining the situation within the framework of the health map to ensure compliance with the standards provided by law."

The mayor also emphasized the need to expand the electricity grid. The governor assured him that Senelec "will be monitoring this matter very closely."

She emphasized the significance of the event: “We fully appreciate the scale of the Magal; we know it’s a major event and that the faithful come from everywhere.” She urged the technical services “to scrupulously respect all commitments made” and asked them, in case of difficulties, to report them “as soon as possible so that we are informed in a timely manner.” The sub-prefect, in conjunction with the organizing committee, will be responsible for monitoring and coordinating the implementation of the agreed-upon measures.

The organizing committee welcomes the efforts of the State and makes its requests.

The chairman of the organizing committee, Serigne Cheikh Thioro Mbacké, reminded everyone that this Magal is dedicated to Cheikh Mouhamadou Lamine Bara Ibn Khadimou Rassoul, the third son of Serigne Touba, and that it is celebrated in Mbacké Kadior, "the cradle of Mouridism." He specified that the event is currently being led by Serigne Moustapha Mbacké.

Addressing the governor, he acknowledged "a marked improvement and progress in several areas" and added: "Even if 100% doesn't exist, we express our complete satisfaction."

He then made several requests:

Regarding health, he estimated that the number of ambulances needed was a matter for health technicians, while assuring that the Cheikhoul Khadim, Matlabul Fawzaini and Ndamatou hospitals were ready to intervene, "as was done last year".

Regarding firewood, he considered three days before the Magal pilgrimage to be "too short a timeframe" for obtaining permits from the Forestry Department. He requested permits valid for at least 15 days before the event, emphasizing that the logs to be cut are sometimes very large and that the committee lacks suitable equipment.

At the National Gendarmerie, he requested passes signed by the prefect to facilitate the movement of authorities and religious dignitaries.

At Customs, he asked for "great leniency" in the lead-up to the event, for the many vehicles that shuttle between Touba and Mbacké Kadior, "while respecting the legal framework".
