De Kidira à Tambacounda : deux dossiers, deux suspects et un même rendez-vous devant le procureur Aliou Dia
The Kidira territorial brigade handled two separate cases this week. The first involved a nighttime mobile phone theft, and the second, assault and battery in the village of Tacutalla. Both suspects were brought before Aliou Dia, head of the Tambacounda prosecutor's office.
On October 13, 2026, officers from the Kidira territorial brigade arrested A. Dia, approximately 25 years old. He claims to be a worker passing through Kidira. He is being prosecuted for the theft of a mobile phone committed at night, from R. Sow, a resident of the Plateau neighborhood in Kidira.
According to the complainant, due to the unpredictable weather, her family members sleep outdoors. They sleep under mosquito nets, and their phones are kept under their pillows. Upon waking at dawn, R. Sow discovered that her Samsung smartphone was missing.
After several unsuccessful inquiries with family members, they learned that a man named A. Dia had been caught with the device. He was attempting to "flash" it to reset it. Betrayed by the phone's wallpaper, he tried to escape the crowd who wanted to lynch him. Partially caught by the chasing mob, he was injured before being taken to the Kidira territorial brigade.
Assault and battery in Tacutalla: a 16-year-old security guard in police custody
On October 14, 2026, the same brigade took into custody Mr. Konaté, aged 16, who works as a security guard. He is being prosecuted for assault and battery resulting in a six-day temporary incapacity for work (ITT) against B. Sidibé.
According to information gathered, the Sidibé and Konaté families, neighbors and related, have been clashing in the village of Tacutalla since last year. They put on a show of full-blown battles whenever the opportunity arises.
On October 12, 2026, around 4:00 p.m., B. Sidibé allegedly encountered M. Konaté in the village streets. Konaté then allegedly struck him violently on the neck with a bamboo stick. The complainant lost consciousness and was immediately taken to the health center, where a medical certificate prescribed six days of incapacity for work. Armed with this document, he then went to the gendarmerie to initiate legal proceedings.
On October 13, 2026, around 11 a.m., the two families clashed again in the village, under similar circumstances.
Investigators summoned the suspect and witnesses. During questioning, Mr. Konaté admitted to having come to blows with B. Sidibé. He explained, however, that the dispute between the two families was long-standing. He specified that these quarrels were often settled in the village through mediation by elders. After being informed of his rights, he was taken into custody.
At the conclusion of these two separate legal proceedings, A. Dia and M. Konaté were brought before Prosecutor Aliou Dia, head of the Tambacounda prosecutor's office. They are currently in prison.
