De l'arène à la prison : Les dessous de l'arrestation du lutteur Papa Boy Djiné
Doudou Diop, known as the wrestler Papa Boy Djiné, is sent to prison for a drug case and will be tried this Monday at the Pikine-Guédiawaye court of flagrant offenses for possession of Indian hemp.
According to report number 533/2026 from the Keur Massar Research Brigade, the investigation was opened on June 25, 2026, following a tip-off about a large-scale cannabis trafficking network allegedly run by a wrestler residing in the Gounass neighborhood of Guédiawaye. According to the informant, the wrestler had received a significant quantity of cannabis, which was stored in a locked room on the terrace of his home.
After several surveillance and tracking operations, investigators went to Papa Boy Djiné's home on June 25, around 5 p.m. The wrestler was absent, as he was in a training session, and the search took place in the presence of his wife, the dancer Ndèye Guèye.
The police searched the premises. They discovered an iron pot used as an ashtray containing residue and cannabis seeds. The container was seized as evidence.
However, the large quantity of drugs mentioned by the informant was not found during the visit.
"Yes, I am a consumer of it."
Summoned to the gendarmerie, Papa Boy Djiné appeared on June 29, 2026. During his interrogation, the wrestler admitted to being the occupant of the premises where the remains were found. He specified that it was also frequented by other wrestlers from his circle.
When investigators asked him, "Are you a cannabis user?", he replied without hesitation, "Yes, I am a user, and have been for some time now." He also admitted that the ashtray containing the cannabis seeds belonged to him.
Refusal to disclose its supplier
Investigators then sought to identify his supplier. When asked to provide his identity, Papa Boy Djiné refused to cooperate. "I couldn't tell you. I prefer to take sole responsibility for my actions," he said.
