Démantèlement d'abris de fortune à la Corniche Ouest : la police met la main sur un présumé dealer
On Wednesday, an operation to clear and dismantle makeshift shelters took place at the Bloc des Madeleines, located on the Corniche Ouest. This operation was part of the ongoing fight against crime and unauthorized occupations in the city center. It led to the arrest of a young man found in possession of drugs.
Officers from the criminal investigation department and the urban unit of the Plateau district police station conducted the operation in this area. Upon their return, they brought an individual suspected of drug possession to the police station. They also handed over 6,500 CFA francs, presumably the proceeds from his sale.
The suspect identified himself as Mr. BA. He is 23 years old and of Guinean nationality. He presents himself as a trainee driver and states that he resides in Reubeuss.
According to the officers who apprehended him, it was during the operation that they spotted Mr. BA sleeping in a makeshift tent, set up on the Corniche Ouest, specifically in the Madeleines block. After introducing themselves, the police officers first verified his identity. They then subjected him to a routine search.
This search uncovered three (3) white bags at the scene. Two bags contained a total of 250 grams of marijuana, and the third contained 125 grams of kush. The sum of 6,500 CFA francs was also found on the suspect. Police believe this likely represents the proceeds from drug sales.
Under questioning, Mr. BA stated that the owner of the drugs, as well as the makeshift tent, is named Moussa, without giving any further details about his identity.
