Alleged embezzlement at SIMAR SA: a network dismantled for losses exceeding 363 million FCFA

Détournement présumé à la SIMAR S.A : un réseau démantelé pour un préjudice de plus de 363 millions de FCFA

A large-scale case of alleged food embezzlement has been uncovered by the Faidherbe Research Brigade, part of the Dakar Gendarmerie Company. The investigation, opened following a complaint by the company SIMAR SA, indicates estimated losses of over three hundred and sixty-three (363) million CFA francs.

It all started with a complaint filed by the company SIMAR SA, denouncing alleged theft, breach of trust, and embezzlement of foodstuffs, for a loss estimated at over 363 million CFA francs. It was on the basis of this complaint that the Faidherbe Research Brigade opened an investigation.

The truck was intercepted in Touba Ndamatou

As part of this investigation, a truck carrying twenty-five (25) tons of wheat was intercepted in Touba Ndamatou by security services. The vehicle did not have any authorization to leave, load, or deliver issued by the management of SIMAR SA.

The driver, for his part, was in possession of a delivery note issued in the name of the company, dated October 21, 2025, the authenticity of which, however, remained to be verified.

Initial checks carried out by investigators have established that the intercepted goods did indeed come from the company's warehouses, particularly the one in Cambérène.

Based on this information, investigators then focused on the various actors involved in the management, control, and release of goods within the company. The interviews conducted revealed the existence of an organized system for the theft and resale of foodstuffs (corn, rice, and wheat) on the local market, Seneweb learned from Colonel Ibrahima Ndiaye.

Arrests as far away as Guinea-Bissau

During the investigation, several people suspected of involvement in this scheme were taken into custody. Among them, two (2) individuals who had left Senegal after the events were arrested in Guinea-Bissau.
