In Diourbel, a rather unusual incident occurred in July 2026, reports L'Observateur. Returning from a trip, seasonal worker Mb. Gakou had arranged a one-night stand with sex worker Nd. Sow for 40,000 FCFA. However, after only an hour, the young woman—noticing that her client was "drunk as a skunk"—hastily got dressed and went to meet another regular, leaving after having "swindled" her host and taken his cell phone.
Upon discovering the disappearance of his device, Mb. Gakou filed a complaint with Central Commissioner Y. Diédhiou, according to the newspaper. In retaliation for this legal action, Nd. Sow allegedly hired thugs who intercepted the complainant near his home and gave him a rough time. Terrified by the attack, the man is now refusing to respond to summonses from investigators. Sources close to the case, cited by the newspaper, also indicate that all of the police's phone calls have gone unanswered.
