Douanes : Babacar Mbaye passe le témoin à Malick Mbaye
The General Directorate of Customs (DGD) has officially changed its head. Babacar Mbaye handed over the reins to Malick Mbaye on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the end of a ceremony held in the Mouhamadou Makhtar Cissé room at the DGD.

The ceremony took place in the presence of the Inspectors General of Finance, heads of departments and senior officials of the Administration.
Speaking at the event, the new Coordinator of the DGD, Ousmane Kane, paid a strong tribute to the outgoing Director for his rigorous management. He praised the results achieved in mobilizing budgetary resources and combating illicit trafficking, as well as the major reforms undertaken, notably the overhaul of the Customs Code.

In his closing remarks, Babacar Mbaye reviewed his twenty months in office, which focused on economic performance and territorial security. He expressed his gratitude to his colleagues and congratulated his successor, whom he described as "a classmate and an exceptional, dedicated, and loyal colleague."

The new Director General, Malick Mbaye, for his part, paid a moving tribute to his predecessor before outlining his priorities: a three-pronged approach based on duty, respect, and loyalty.

He prioritized consolidating achievements, aligning with the Senegal 2050 Vision, and finalizing ongoing projects. He also urged customs officers to place ethics, discipline, and exemplary conduct at the heart of their work.
