Drame à la Médina : Un vendeur de café meurt suite à la chute de la façade d'un bâtiment R+3
A tragedy occurred on Friday, October 16, 2026, around 8 p.m., in the Medina district. The local police station was alerted following the collapse of the facade of a three-story building (ground floor + 3 floors) located at the intersection of Rue 17X20.
The building in question, an old but still inhabited structure, suffered a partial collapse of its exterior at the second and third floors. The rubble fell on a group of people gathered at the base of the building, around a street vendor.
The human toll stands at four male victims, including one fatality and three injuries. The deceased has been identified as MS Diallo, a 38-year-old Senegalese coffee vendor, married and father of two, residing in Pikine, according to Seneweb sources.
None of the occupants residing inside the building suffered any bodily injury or property damage.
Emergency services and local authorities, including the Mayor of the municipality and the Sub-Prefect of Dakar Plateau, immediately went to the scene. Firefighters treated the three injured people and transported them urgently to hospitals. A medical report was filed to determine the precise cause of death of the victim.
On site, police established a security perimeter to isolate the building and prevent any further accidents. Informed of the incident, the Public Prosecutor ordered a judicial inquiry to fully investigate the circumstances of the collapse.
