Drame à Ziguinchor : un commerçant retrouvé mort pendu après la perte de 800 000 F CFA
A shopkeeper, approximately 27 years old, was found hanged in a store in Ziguinchor on Monday, October 26, 2026. According to a relative, he had just lost 800,000 CFA francs. An investigation has been launched.
The incident occurred around 11 a.m. L. DIALLO, owner of the shop located on Boulevard 54 meters, went to check on the victim at the premises. He then found A. DIALLO hanging by a thread.
At 1:30 PM, the Ziguinchor central police station received a telephone notification of a death by hanging in the shop. Officers went to the scene and identified the victim as A. Diallo, approximately 27 years old. He resided in the Néma 2 neighborhood. His body was suspended from the ceiling by a black wire.
The shop owner, L. DIALLO, told investigators that he had gone to see the victim around 11 a.m. and found her hanging by a wire.
The police also interviewed Mr. Diallo, the deceased's cousin. He explained that A. Diallo had informed him of his financial difficulties, caused by the loss of 800,000 CFA francs, according to Seneweb sources. He clarified, however, that his cousin had never expressed any suicidal intentions.
The body was transported to the Ziguinchor Regional Hospital, where an autopsy will be performed. The Public Prosecutor at the Ziguinchor High Court has been informed, and an investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of the death.
