Among the victims of the recent floods caused by heavy rains in Senegal, 25-year-old Awa Ngom and her 4-year-old son, B. Sarr, perished, trapped by the sudden rise of the waters this past weekend in Unit 7 of the Parcelles Assainies district. L'Observateur reveals a cruel twist of fate: Awa Ngom was due to return to her in-laws' home on October 20th, in accordance with a Serer family tradition. That visit will now never take place.
The newspaper of the Future Media Group also details the pain of a completely broken family: a widower, Saliou Sarr, as well as another 6-year-old child, now deprived of his mother and little brother.
Finally, the newspaper reports on the stages of mourning. After the forensic procedure and the autopsy, the remains were transported to Ngoundiane, the victims' village of origin, located in the department of Thiès, for a final moment of reflection by relatives before their transfer to Touba, where they are to be buried.

C'est Stairway to Heaven ?
