“Schools closed, water rationed and a medical desert”: In Mbacké, Thierno Alassane Sall speaks of a “Republic of the forgotten”

« Écoles fermées, eau rationnée et désert médical » : À Mbacké, Thierno Alassane Sall parle d'une « République des oubliés »

At the end of his tour in the department of Mbacké, MP Thierno Alassane Sall paints a worrying picture of the living conditions of some populations, who face severe difficulties in accessing drinking water, education and road infrastructure.

In his observation, the elected official deplores that political rivalries occupy a disproportionate place in the national public debate, while citizens continue to demand the satisfaction of their most basic needs.

Schools closed and drinking water rationed

On the ground, the difficulties are particularly acute in certain areas. Thierno Alassane Sall cites, in particular, the case of a school that, after only seven years of operation, has been closed since 2023 due to a lack of teachers. This dramatic situation, the parliamentarian denounces, forces young students to travel long distances by cart to reach other schools, inevitably leading some of them to drop out of school.

Access to drinking water is another major challenge in the area. According to the MP, three villages, including Daïka and Diaby, are reduced to taking turns collecting water, acutely illustrating the precarious living conditions and the lack of water infrastructure.

Questioning the priorities of public action

Through this uncompromising assessment, Thierno Alassane Sall questions the true priorities of public action and the authorities' ability to address the daily concerns of Senegalese citizens. He believes that promises to transform the country must now translate into concrete and measurable improvements in the lives of citizens.

For the parliamentarian, the upcoming deadlines should be an opportunity to learn from this situation and to urgently refocus the political debate on the fundamental expectations of the people, including access to water, education and basic infrastructure.

Tout l'argent destiné à investir pour le bien-être de la population est dépensé pour acheter des biens pour le Parlement, la Primature et la présidence. Et après, ils vont dire qu'il n'y a pas d'argent pour investir dans quoique ce soit.
