Émission Sitoe : Quand Mimi Touré démonte les préjugés sur les « métiers d'hommes »
In a candid interview given to the program "Sitöé" on Seneweb, the High Representative of the President of the Republic, Aminata Touré, looked back on her childhood and the message she wishes to convey to new generations: dare, and let girls dare.
Known for her strong leadership, she remembers being a little girl who was "very curious, full of energy and very active". Far from gender stereotypes, her playground encompassed both the schoolyard and the sports fields.
A good full-back in football, skillful in basketball where she knew how to "score baskets," a judo practitioner, and even an international athlete in the 100m and 200m, Aminata Touré forged her discipline very early on. For her, sport has always been more than just a leisure activity. "Sport builds character, and I wholeheartedly agree with the saying 'a sound mind in a sound body,'" she summarizes.
Drawing on her diverse background, the former Prime Minister makes a passionate appeal to break down societal barriers. "Whether it's mechanics or any other field, parents should support girls in what interests them," she urges.
For Mimi Touré, there is no such thing as a "man's job." There are only passions, talents, and legitimate ambitions to be encouraged. In this same spirit, she encourages women to assert themselves through their skills and abilities in all their endeavors.
