Escroquerie de près d'un milliard de FCFA au Mali : le fugitif interpellé à Dakar par la DIC
The international manhunt for a suspected Malian fraudster has ended in the Senegalese capital. The Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) arrested AH Diaby, a Malian national actively sought by his country's police in connection with a fraud case.
The case dates back to the period between July and September 2026. The suspect had then convinced several economic operators that he held a major contract to supply fuel to Chinese companies operating the gold mines of Kéniéba, in Mali.
Reassured by this large-scale project, the plaintiffs delivered several shipments of fuel to him for a total estimated value of 946,270,000 CFA francs, according to exclusive information from Seneweb.
It was when it came time to honor his financial commitments that Mr. Diaby began to multiply delaying tactics, refusing to return the sums owed to the suppliers.
Faced with pressure from the victims, the accused eventually fled to Dakar, hoping to escape the legal proceedings initiated against him in Mali.
Located and apprehended by Senegalese investigators, the suspect confessed to all the charges against him during his preliminary questioning. He admitted to reselling the fuel trucks to Chinese mining operators, but attempted to justify his failure to pay with economic pretexts, citing, without further explanation, an alleged drop in the global price of gold.
Following his arrest, AH Diaby was placed at the disposal of INTERPOL's National Central Bureau (NCB) in Dakar, in order to organize his official handover to the Malian police authorities.
