Espagne : un Sénégalais tué par balle
A Senegalese national died Saturday at Torrecárdenas University Hospital in Spain after being shot in the abdomen during nighttime gun battles in Pechina, in the province of Almería. Les Échos, citing the Spanish press, reports that the victim underwent emergency surgery but succumbed to his injuries. Another Senegalese man, who was beaten during the violence, received treatment and was later released from the hospital.
The incident began around 2:50 a.m. in the Los Cortijillos neighborhood, where shotgun fire targeted a group of about fifteen people of sub-Saharan origin. Nearly two hours later, further gunshots were reported at homes on Sierra María Street. The victim was reportedly hit while trying to escape his attackers.
The newspaper Les Échos reports a clash between a clan from the Roma community and residents of Senegalese origin. However, some locals suggest another possibility: an intimidation campaign aimed at forcing the Senegalese to leave the area. They report tensions dating back several days and the arson of a house prior to the shootings. These accounts have not been confirmed by the authorities. More than 24 hours after the incident, no suspects had been arrested, and the Guardia Civil had not released any information regarding the motive for the shooting or the identity of the deceased.
