Falémé : le GARSI 2 démantèle 15 dragues d’orpaillage à Sansamba.
As part of the enforcement of the decree prohibiting all mining activity on the left bank of the Falémé River, the Kédougou Gendarmerie Legion is intensifying its security operations. An operation conducted on Wednesday, September 16th, in Sansamba, in the Saraya department, resulted in the destruction of 15 dredges used for gold mining.
The fight against mining on the left bank of the Falémé River continues in the Kédougou region. The detachment of the Rapid Action Surveillance and Intervention Group (GARSI 2), based in Moussala, conducted a dismantling operation on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, along the village of Sansamba, in the commune of Bembou, department of Saraya.
The operation, conducted between 12pm and 5pm, followed reports of heavy gold mining activity in this area located on the left bank of the Falémé.
On site, GARSI 2 personnel dismantled the targeted installations. In total, 15 dredges were destroyed, dealing another blow to the gold mining activities targeted by the ban measures.
This operation is part of a series of actions undertaken by the defense and security forces to enforce the ban on mining activities in this part of the Falémé and to strengthen the security of the area.
No incidents were reported during the operation.
