Fass Mbao: Shoe vendors' scheme to sell Kush thwarted

Fass Mbao : le stratagème des vendeurs de chaussures pour écouler du Kush déjoué

A suspected Kush trafficking network has been dismantled in Fass Mbao by officers from the Diamaguène Sicap-Mbao district police station's investigation unit. Two individuals were arrested following a surveillance and sting operation, set up after receiving information about drug trafficking in the area.

The operation took place precisely at the entrance of the factory bearing the sign "Lobou Mame Diarra". According to the information gathered during the investigation, the suspects allegedly chose the sale of safety shoes as a front to conceal their illicit business.

After acting on the intelligence, the police set up a surveillance operation. One of the investigators went to the location posing as a customer and immediately ordered some Kush. It was then that one of the suspects pulled a small bag of drugs from a shoe he was carrying.

Other police officers who were nearby immediately intervened to arrest them.

The accused have been identified as Babacar D., 25 years old, and Moussa S., 26 years old.

The search uncovered Kush. Babacar D. was in possession of 27 kepas hidden in the new shoes he was offering for sale, as well as a quantity of loose Kush estimated at around 20 grams.

Seven other packets of the same drug and a sum of 3,500 FCFA were also found in Moussa S.'s pockets. A total sum of 29,500 FCFA, mainly consisting of 500 FCFA notes, was seized.

Taken to the police station and questioned, the two suspects admitted to drug trafficking. However, they did not provide sufficient information about their alleged supplier, who was said to reside in Pikine, without further details.

The seized drugs, the two pairs of safety shoes used as a screen activity, and the money presented as proceeds from the sale were recorded for the purposes of the investigation.

The two suspects were taken into custody for conspiracy, possession, and domestic drug trafficking, particularly of Kush. The investigation is ongoing, and the public prosecutor has been informed.
