FBN Bank : l’incroyable découverte
A fraudulent electronic transfer order executed on April 14th allowed the embezzlement of over 47 million CFA francs from the bank account of Malian businessman Oumar N., better known as "Petit Barou." However, investigations by the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) have revealed some unexpected ramifications to this case.
The incredible discovery, revealed by Libération: part of the embezzled funds ended up in the accounts of an employee of the Agricultural Bank. According to investigators, as reported by the newspaper, 1.5 million and 25,043,875 FCFA were respectively transferred to the accounts of DB (54 years old), an employee of this bank, and KAN (36 years old), a merchant.
When questioned by investigators, DB claimed to have received the money in exchange for advertising work done for the company Camplus, whose manager is currently on the run. KAN, for his part, maintains that he received the funds at the request of his brother, MMN. MMN was also arrested by the Colobane Research Section.
The two men are in police custody at the DIC (Criminal Investigation Division) for complicity in theft and receiving stolen goods. The total value of the stolen goods is estimated at 47,052,500 FCFA, according to Libération.
In this case, FBN Bank has disclaimed responsibility, stating that it complied with regulatory control and compliance requirements, despite using an unusual electronic channel for its client.
