Féminicides au Sénégal : Seydi Gassama interpelle l’État après les morts d’Aminata Sy et de Mame Diarra Sow
The deaths of Aminata Sy and Mame Diarra Sow, which occurred on the same day, have prompted a strong reaction from Seydi Gassama, Executive Director of Amnesty International Senegal. In light of these two tragedies, he calls on the state and society to fully grasp the gravity of violence against women.
In a statement, the human rights defender recalls the commitment made by the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, in his end-of-year message for 2025, to fight against femicides.
For Seydi Gassama, this commitment must now translate into concrete actions to prevent violence against women and to better protect them.
These two deaths thus revive the question of the fight against violence against women in Senegal, as well as that of collective responsibility in preventing these tragedies.
#Senegal: The deaths of Aminata Sy and Mame Diarra Sow, which occurred on the same day, are a wake-up call for the State and society. The commitment made by President @PR_Diomaye in his 2025 New Year's address to fight against #femicide must be translated into concrete actions. https://t.co/nd4BdAL39m
