Foncier à Médinatoul Mounawara Extension (Tivaouane Peulh) : Les habitants réclament la sécurisation de leurs terres
In Médinatoul Mounawara Extension and the surrounding neighborhoods (Tivaouane Peulh), land ownership remains a central concern for residents. Those who have occupied plots of land registered under land title 17881/R for several years are now demanding the official regularization of their rights. Their primary demand is to have these plots legally transferred into their names to end the uncertainty surrounding their property.

In this part of the Tivaouane Peulh-Niaga municipality, many residents say they only have notifications or administrative documents that, in their opinion, do not provide them with sufficient land tenure security. This situation is fueling anxiety among families, particularly those who have invested their savings in building their homes.
For Cheikh Fall, president of the Médinatoul Mounawara movement, the issue of transferring land titles is an urgent matter. Residents want the relevant authorities to intervene to clarify the legal status of the plots and allow legal occupants to obtain definitive land documents. However, the Nomora case also remains a major concern. Beyond land title 17881/R, residents also mention difficulties related to the Nomora project. Despite its completion, they maintain that certain land-related problems persist.
Thus, the residents are denouncing what they consider to be irregular land appropriations, which they attribute to the former company in charge of the project. They are demanding a transparent review of the land ownership situation to determine each party's rights and allow rightful owners to secure their land. For these residents, the issue goes beyond simple ownership: it is also about protecting investments made by families and preventing land disputes from further jeopardizing the neighborhood's development.
An area facing multiple deficits
The difficulties, however, are not solely related to land ownership. Médinatoul Mounawara Extension and its surrounding areas also suffer from isolation, which complicates the daily lives of residents. The poor condition and inadequacy of access roads make travel difficult, particularly during periods of heavy rain. Adding to this situation is the lack of basic social infrastructure. Residents particularly lament the absence of schools and healthcare facilities close enough to meet the needs of a growing population.
The PROCASEF program is expected to strengthen land security
In this context, the resumption of activities for the Land Registry and Land Tenure Security Project (PROCASEF) is particularly eagerly awaited by the population. The stated objective of this type of intervention is, in particular, to contribute to a better understanding and improved security of land rights.
For the residents of Médinatoul Mounawara Extension, the regularization of their land parcels could be a crucial step towards ending the uncertainty. They are therefore calling on the administrative and land authorities to expedite the processing of their cases, clarify the disputed situations, and support the residents in the necessary steps to secure their property.
Beyond land title 17881/R, an entire community is demanding greater clarity about its future. Securing land ownership, opening up the area, and strengthening educational and healthcare infrastructure: residents believe these three challenges must now be addressed together to allow Médinatoul Mounawara Extension to continue its development in a more stable environment.
