Garde d'enfants qui vire au drame : L'ex-épouse poignardée, l'ex-mari interné à Thiaroye
Teacher A. Guèye, residing in Mboro, is being prosecuted before the Thiès court for flagrant offenses for assault and battery resulting in a 10-day temporary incapacity for work suffered by his ex-wife, M. Guèye. He is also being prosecuted for illegal possession of a firearm.
According to the facts presented in court, the dispute concerns the custody of their children after the divorce. The plaintiff explains that her ex-husband wanted to take custody of the little girls, a decision she opposed due to their young age.
“He came to my house to get them back and I refused. We argued, then he went home. A few days later, he came back and wanted to get the children back again. I refused again. An argument ensued. He then brandished a knife to stab me,” Mr. Guèye told the judges.
However, the defendant did not appear in court. According to the case file, he suffers from mental health issues, a situation that forced him to give up teaching. He is currently hospitalized at the Thiaroye psychiatric center.
At the conclusion of the proceedings, the public prosecutor requested the application of the law. The case was adjourned for deliberation by the court.
